BGN celebrates GCSE success
Year 11 students at Blessed George Napier Catholic School are celebrating another year of GCSE success with 19 students achieving at least one of the new top grade 9s in Maths and English [11% compared to 3% nationally]. 22 students have gained at least eight GCSE grades at grade A/A* or equivalent which is a fantastic achievement. The hard work of students in English was rewarded, with 85% of students attaining a standard pass [equivalent to Grade C] and 64% gaining a strong pass, which is the new threshold measure of English. 75% of students gained a standard pass in Maths which is an excellent achievement. Overall, 70% of students attained a standard pass in both English and Maths, with 39% attaining the English Baccalaureate, allowing our students to move on to further studies.
The Principal, Fraser Long, said: “We are delighted with the performance of our students who have been the first year to sit the harder Maths and English papers. These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students and their teachers”.
