A warm welcome to Blessed George Napier Catholic School and Sixth Form Specialist Sports College, an Academy within The Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Company (MAC).
We are a Catholic School and, as such, we are deeply aware of the unique nature of each individual and the purpose that each one of us has in bringing about the Kingdom of God. Providing a first class education for all other pupils, so that they can use their talents and skills for the good of others, is very much part of our Christian mission.
In our recent inspection (June 2017), Ofsted commented "The school's contribution to pupils personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exemplary" and "At Blessed George Napier outstanding behaviour is much more than just the absence of poor conduct, pupils positively go out of their way to do good things, they act as positive role models for younger children, contribute to charitable actiivites and represent their school in their dispersed local communities". Ofsted further stated "Senior leaders demonstrate full and passionate committment to the values on which the school is founded, they want the best for every pupil and seek to promote the well-being of all".
Our last Diocesan Inspection stated: "Pupils contribute in an excellent manner to building the character of a school to which they are obviously very proud to belong" and "There is serious commitment to learning".
We have had some wonderful exam results in 2016 with a large proportion of students achieving their first choice university place. 54% of all grades were A*- B and our pass rate was 98%. Our AS results were extremely good with 70% of the year group already achieving grades of C or above, with another year to go. We are delighted that all who left the Sixth Form went into education, employment or training and many are now attending Russell Group universities and some of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country. They are a credit to themselves, their families and BGN.
We have a history of strong GCSE results. In 2016 our results were exceptional and we achieved 72% A*- C in English and Maths, with 67% of pupils achieving five GCSEs, including English and Maths, at A*- C. This is due to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. Our levels of progress also continue to remain excellent.
BGN is a thriving school where laughter is often heard and respect for each individual is regularly demonstrated. Our Catholic faith is the source from which we draw our strength and the root of all our success.
May God continue to bless this very special school.
