  • CHANGE TO SCHOOL CLOSING/WEATHER WARNING

    Published 15/07/22

    Met Office Extreme Weather Warning

We have reviewed our risk assessment in view of the government health warning issued for Monday and Tuesday next week. We have very little shade on our site and therefore lunch will be shorter than usual. Students will be advised to remain indoors or in the shade, to drink lots of water and to avoid physical exertion. This means the school day will end at 3pm on Monday 18  and Tuesday 19 of July. Buses will collect students at this time. Students will not be expected to wear blazers or ties, and trainers will be permitted. Alternatively, students can wear BGN PE uniform. No other sportswear is permitted.

Early Closure for the Summer Holiday

Unfortunately, we will have to close the school one day earlier than planned for the summer break.  This means that school will now finish for all students on Tuesday 19 July at 3pm.  The reason for this early closure is to allow areas of the school which will be refurbished, as part of our ongoing building expansion, to be cleared prior to building works starting on Thursday 21 July 2022.

We realise that this is extremely short notice.  However, in order to ensure that the school is ready for our September re-opening, it is essential that we are able to hand over these areas to the builders by close of play on Wednesday afternoon.  We estimate that it could take more than one day to clear the necessary areas.  Teachers will all be on site during this time.

If for any reason you require our support should this earlier closure cause a problem regarding childcare, please contact the school office as soon as possible so that we can endeavour to put the necessary arrangements in place.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and, again, we apologise for any inconvenience this earlier closure may cause you.

  • Rachel Smith Memorial Fund

    Published 03/05/22

It is with much sadness that on 1 May 2022 we learned of the death of Miss Rachel Smith.  Miss Smith was Assistant Headteacher for Catholic Life and Head of RE.  She has been a supporter of the BGN Lourdes pilgrimage with students for many years and her loss will be felt far outside our community.  She has been a constant inspiration to so many of us in school as she lived out her very powerful vocation as a teacher and spiritual leader.  We will remember her with joy in our hearts and give thanks for the many blessings she brought us.

Donations can be made to the Rachel Smith Memorial Fund using the School Shop link https://app.parentpay.com/ParentPayShop/Uniform/Default.aspx?shopid=664.  We thank you for any donation you feel able to make.

  • VLE address change

    Published 17/02/22

The web address for our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is changing. As a result, if you are using the web address https://bgn.myvle.co.uk on your laptop or desktop (the change will not affect the App), you will not be able to access the VLE if you do not have the new address after 30th April 2022. We kindly ask you to please make a note of the new address and ensure that it is the default address to access the student’s VLE, as well as the parent portal.

    Our new address is https://bgn.fusionvle.com

The VLE continues to be of great importance for maintaining strong links between home and school. It allows teachers to share learning resources with their students and set tasks for those students to complete. The VLE provides exciting ways to enhance and extend your child’s learning while providing many useful features such as being able to download extra copies of work, submit assignments online and keep up with work being missed due to self-isolating.

Your child’s documents, other learning materials, news, timetable and attendance are also available via the parent portal.  We hope that this information will support you to provide help and guidance at home.

If you have your passwords saved on your internet browser, you will be able to recover them by following the steps on the document attached.

In the first instance if you have questions, please e-mail the school on Office.4600@bgn.oxon.sch.uk.

Thank you for your continued support.
