  • CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - 2.4.20

    Published 27/03/20

THE SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED TO ALL PUPILS FROM MONDAY 6th APRIL TO FRIDAY 17th APRIL.

Blessed George Napier School Update (02.04.20)

    Year 11 and Year 13

We realise that this has been an anxious time for our Year 11s and 13s, one which none of us could have foreseen. We are waiting for OFQUAL (the body that regulates exam boards) to clarify exactly how schools should be grading GCSEs, A’Levels and other qualifications. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

Mr Savania has sent an update to all of Year 11 via the VLE telling them that after the Easter holidays, there will be a folder in BGN Spaces called Flying Start. Any student wishing to continue on to Level 3 courses will find a subject specific folder with lots of preparation work for their courses. Any students who are moving off to college or Apprenticeships will also have some relevant activities to do.

    Work Set and the VLE

We would like to thank students for logging on to the VLE each day and working through the tasks they have been set. We think we have now solved most of the initial teething problems. We would ask that all parents ask their children what work they have been set and what they have produced. We are also aware that a small number of students are not accessing all work set and parents will have been sent an email from teachers letting them know. If they have any questions, they can use the VLE to ask their teachers.

Please note that work will not be set during the Easter holidays (Monday 6 th April to Friday 17th April).

    Communication

The VLE remains the method of communication between students and staff. We have asked staff to take some feedback from their classes, to find out how students are finding the specific work they are being set. This will help teachers to modify tasks, where necessary. We will continue to put updated information on to our school web site and occasionally, where there is the need we will email or text parents.

Our school site will be closed over Easter and then closed to all but a very small number of people after Easter, in order to reduce the risk of infection. No students should be visiting each other’s homes or congregating together outside at any time.

We would like to thank you for your continued support during these challenging times and will keep you updated of any changes.

  • Asthma Inhalers

    Published 21/10/19

As the cold weather is now upon us, we are asking all parents with children who are asthmatic to ensure they have their reliever inhaler on them while they are in school.

We also advise that an emergency inhaler is kept in school and we are happy to store these in our medical cabinet in Student Services. As with all stored medicines we would need the inhaler to be in a box with a prescription label on it and a school consent form to be completed for our records.

If you have any concerns or would like to keep an emergency inhaler in school, please do contact us at the school office.
