Literary Genres: Aspects of tragedy

Shakespeare and drama – Texts studied are:

• Shakespeare ‘Richard II’
• Shakespeare ‘Othello’

Prose – Texts studied are:

• F Scott Fitzgerald ‘The Great Gatsby’

Texts and Genres:          

Elements of crime or elements of political and social protest writing:

• Margaret Atwood ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

Text & Genres

• Elements of crime or elements of political and social protest writing.
• William Blake ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’.
• Khaled Hosseini ‘The Kite Runner’.
• Study of sample extracts, taken from the political and social genre.
• Revision of texts.

Literary Genres: Aspects of tragedy

• Revision of texts.

Non exam assessment (coursework)

Study of two texts (one poetry and one prose) and two essays, with the Critical Anthology

• 2 Poetry texts taught in class
• 1 prose text independently selected by the student.
