The Learning Base is divided into four areas allowing us to facilitate students with specific needs.
One of these rooms is the English as an Additional Language (EAL) are which is dedicated to teach and support students to develop their understanding and vocabulary in English and other languages.
There is also a dedicated area used for small group interventions. Various resources are used to provide learning and to develop both social skills and independence. We have a variety of resources to use which include an interactive whiteboard for students to be more involved in their learning. Computer based software is also available for more independent work that enhances literacy and numeracy skills. ICT provision is available for students with specific learning needs which can be used in certain lessons.
A further oom is available for small group teaching and one to one learning support. In addition to this, assessments take place to provide exam access arrangements.
It is important for students to reflect of specific issues and behaviours and we are fortunate enough to be able to have a room to facilitate this before they return to timetabled lessons.
Students are held on our SEND Inclusion Register at 2 levels; Education, Health and Care Plan and Special Educational needs Support. Monitoring of the progress of these students is reviewed at regular intervals by the SENCO.
